THIS COST ME MY AMSOIL DEALERSHIP! The Truth About AMSOIL Dealerships: Part 2 The Dark Side Of AMSOIL Dealership / Business Opportunity
Please note: As I write this article, I am currently an AMSOIL dealer, and by writing this part of the article series, I am putting my AMSOIL Dealership in jeopardy. AMSOIL does not want this information put out there.
Let me state that again, by writing this article, I AM PUTTING MY DEALERSHIP IN JEOPARDY! This is a 100% honest article on AMSOIL and AMSOIL Products, the AMSOIL Business model, etc.
Regardless, I think it’s only right and ethical that I give you the full story, and this includes the dark side of being an AMSOIL dealer.
I also want to state outright that this information, unless otherwise stated as fact, is my opinion.
UPDATE: I officially had my AMSOIL dealership terminated for sharing this information with you!
You Wake Up One Day And Realize Everything You Thought About AMSOIL Was Wrong!
Has this ever happened to you?
This happened to me recently … with AMSOIL as a product and AMSOIL as a business. I woke up to the fact that AMSOIL is not that great of a product, and I also realized AMSOIL’s business model has a lot of problems…
I am laying it all on the line for you right now. I am going to show you how I awoke to the realization that I was completely wrong about everything I thought regarding AMSOIL and the AMSOIL business model…
It’s very hard for me to admit what I am going to write in this article, but I feel it’s only right to be 100% honest and to admit your failures.
I have left all my content up on this site so you can see how sold I was on the entire AMSOIL “scam”. How much time and effort I put into AMSOIL Dealership …
For now, I am still currently an AMSOIL Dealer, but I must also issue an apology to those I recruited into this business model who are probably struggling to make even a few dollars from all their hard work.
So let’s get to the meat and potatoes of this article…
What You Should Really Expect To Earn Selling AMSOIL Products
Ever wonder why AMSOIL Dealers NEVER tell YOU what they make? Well … you’re about to find out.
So you’re thinking this all sounds great and you are ready to dive right in … not so fast. Let me give you some facts about my earnings with AMSOIL.
FACT: I have been selling AMSOIL since 2009.
FACT: I only sell AMSOIL part time.
FACT: I earn less than $200 a month selling AMSOIL.
FACT: I currently have 93 customers, 40 Preferred Customers, 41 Catalog Customers, 12 Dealers, 1 Retail Account.
Yes, you read that right, all that work, all those customers, and less than $200 a month! Does that sound lucrative to you?
It’s not even close … it’s downright awful!
I would go so far as to say it’s humiliating for me to even tell you this …
Don’t get me wrong, I am not a full time salesman, and I don’t go out there an peddle this stuff like a used care salesman, so there is a good chance you may do much better than I have …
but ask any dealer how much they make (net profit), and see if they will tell you …
To be fair, I don’t do much for that tiny monthly pay check. I mainly spend my time helping new dealers get started on the right foot …
But there’s more, there’s always more …
Fellow AMSOIL Dealers WILL Slit Your Throat … They Continually Eat Their Own … AMSOIL Corp… Who?!
Team players need not apply …
AMSOIL Dealers are a lot like used car salesmen. They will slit your throat in a heart beat to steal your down line … and AMSOIL will do nothing to help you.
It’s true, there are rules against dealers interfering with your down line, but don’t expect AMSOIL to help you when it happens.
Let me tell you a story. I had a great dealer, he was selling a lot of oil, signing up new accounts, etc. I received an email from this dealer out of the blue … a dreaded email you will probably receive yourself if you are an AMSOIL Dealer …
He wanted to be released, no longer wanted me as a sponsor. He wanted another dealer to be his sponsor. According to this dealer, another dealer helped him out, said he would do a few things for him, and wanted to change sponsors.
I could have said no, but this dealer was dead set on being released. I didn’t want to hold him hostage, so I let him go … reluctantly.
Sounds like clear cut interference, but according to AMSOIL, this was not the case. Here is the actual email, names ommitted, that I received from AMSOIL after I complained about this interference:
(Emphasis added by me)
Good Morning Bob,
We were contacted by Dealer ***** ***** last week. He had stated that he wanted to correct his sponsor as he had not entered in his sponsor’s referral when he initially signed up. We show that he went through your website when he registered and had been assigned to you because of this. We asked him to contact you in regards to this however he stated that he did not know who you were and wasn’t sure how he had been assigned to you.
We take every sponsor change request that we receive seriously. Every situation is reviewed on a case by case basis. Since **** had not been actively working with you, there is no indication of tampering by another Dealer in this case.
If you have any additional questions you may contact your Regional Sales Manager, Eric Brandenburg.
So basically, although I was the reason this dealer signed up (he signed up through my website, but I guess that doesn’t mean anything to AMSOIL), and since I didn’t contact him directly, I wasn’t working with him, according to AMSOIL.
He had been in my down line for months. The guy signed up through my website, but had no idea who his sponsor was? Bullshit.
So I guess if you find a dealer who isn’t working with another dealer, it’s fair game to try and convince him change sponsors.
Just think about that for a moment …
You work your butt off, you write up a bunch of articles online, you pay money for advertising, and someone finds AMSOIL because of you. They follow your links to sign up, and AMSOIL acts as if YOU had nothing to do with them becoming AMSOIL customers or dealers.
I am not the only one to complain about this mind you. When I was active on the AMSOIL dealer forums, there were many, many discussions about dealers who were stealing other dealers down line and interfering with their businesses.
The general consensus on the forums was that AMSOIL corporate would do nothing about it, so they just ignored it and moved on. From what I have seen, they were right.
I am guilty of the same “look the other way and just continue on” behavior, but no more … It is my DUTY to let you know this will happen to you and AMSOIL WILL DO NOTHING to help you.
In addition, many of the long time AMSOIL Dealers are just like used care salesmen. No ethics, no morals, and although this is just my opinion, but it’s my honest opinion.
They have no problem stealing your down line from you …
It’s a serious problem, and AMSOIL doesn’t seem to care …
And then there is this little nugget:
AMSOIL IS NOT Just Like Any Other Business You Can Own …
Oh sure, you can will it to your family, but just try and sell it …
I was told when I was joining AMSOIL that I was starting my own business. Usually when you own your own business, you can sell it, but with AMSOIL … you may be able to sell.
In order to sell your Dealership, you have to first go to your up line and down line to see if anyone wants to buy it. If so, you still have to get approval from your sponsor, and then AMSOIL Corporate has to approve. Basically … good luck …
Although that was hard for me to write … this is even harder for me to admit …
AMSOIL Is A RIPOFF!
There, I said it … and it felt good to say because it’s true. I have been wasting my money since 2009 on this average product.
Maybe 40 years ago AMSOIL was cutting edge, but today it’s just another synthetic product. Sure, it may be better in some ways, but in other ways it may not be as good as other leading brands.
That’s just the cold hard truth … and sometimes that cold hard truth hurts …
And even where AMSOIL does perform better, it’s not much better … certainly not worth the extra cash you will fork over for it.
But stay tuned as I will make a YouTube video soon testing Mobil 1 Vs. AMSOIL SSO using Used Oil Analysis. I hope at this point you realize that I am unbiased and am not a blind AMSOIL user (or ex user).
But … until then, let’s compare the numbers.
Mobil 1. Here are the numbers.
These are Dealer prices, and not general public prices.
AMSOIL PC: $20.00 Per Year
AMSOIL SSO 5W-30 $7.85 per quart (Durango takes 6 quarts, but I buy an extra quart) $54.95
AMSOIL Filter: $13.75
Total AMSOIL oil change: $92.80
Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5W-30 Full Synthetic Motor Oil (True PAO Oil) 5 quart jug $26.97 at my local wallyworld! At this price I am buying two!
Mobil 1 Extended Oil Filter $12.99
We will call it an even $50.00 with taxes and an extra quart! Did I miss something? Can you really get a true PAO oil, extended filter, and pay nearly half of what you would pay if you used AMSOIL?
Need I say more? Okay, just a little more …
From what I understand, the Mobil 1 Extended Performance Oil is a true PAO. I have not verified this fact though, but if it is a true PAO oil, then it might even be better than AMSOIL!
Since I change my oil ever 12k to 15k miles anyway, I think I have just made up my mine to drop AMSOIL and move to Mobil 1.
Here is just a quick quote from a company that tests used motor oil:
“What’s the best oil to use?
Ah, the million dollar question. We are an independent lab, so we don’t make recommendations. It has been our experience that oil is oil, and either petroleum or synthetic-based oil will work well for just about any engine.
Come on, you’re holding out on me. I should use synthetic, right?
Buddy, you should use whatever you want. Synthetic oil won’t guarantee a longer engine life any more than my eating organic food will guarantee I’ll live until I’m 90. We here at Blackstone generally use regular petroleum-based oil because honestly, it works just as well for us.”
Still Not Convinced AMSOIL Is An Average Product?
No don’t get me wrong, AMSOIL may be better in some aspects and worse in others depending on what oil you’re comparing it too, but my point is the tiny amount of performance gained by using AMSOIL is not worth the extra money.
So are you …
